Rep. Ilhan Omar posted a video on Friday showing her walking along a dock in Minnesota, a few days after federal agents searched her home in Washington, D.C. The visual content presented a quiet, autumnal scene, but the audio track featured a Somali hip-hop song with lyrics about defeating and crushing opponents.

The video, shared on X, showed Omar and her husband, Tim Mynett, strolling across the dock while holding coffee. Fall foliage lined the background as the pair smiled and chatted. The clip ended with a montage of photos from their walk. Omar’s caption read, “Less scrolling, more strolling. Enjoying our beautiful Minnesota lakes.”

The song accompanying the video, “Nimaan Ciilayba Icaaya,” is a duet by Somali rapper Ilkacase Qays and singer Hodan Abdirahman. According to a translation, the lyrics state, “No enemy dares threaten me, wherever I step, they scatter.” The track continues, “If the just one had felt anger on my behalf, would he not have crushed the enemy underfoot?” A cultural analysis described the song as built around pride, bravery, and personal dignity.

Omar’s public appearance in Minnesota marked her return after nearly two weeks out of the spotlight. On Oct. 12, 2026, agents from Homeland Security Investigations raided her Washington home as part of a criminal probe. During the search, federal agents confiscated her passport and cellphone. Her sister, Sahra Noor, was interviewed by investigators, and federal agents also obtained Omar’s DNA.

On Friday, Omar cast an early ballot in Minneapolis alongside state Attorney General Keith Ellison. Media followed the pair to the Karmel Mall of Somalia in Minneapolis, where they had lunch and posed for photos with members of the Somali community. Later that day, Omar posted the lake video. It is unclear when the footage was filmed. Omar restricted direct responses to her post, leaving only a public comment from former House member Cori Bush, who wrote, “We love this.”

The investigation focuses on potential fraud related to immigration paperwork filled out by Omar or her father during her citizenship process. HSI serves as the main investigatory agency for the Department of Homeland Security. Sources indicate Omar’s actual name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. Border czar Tom Homan said last week that if fraud is proven, Omar could be denaturalized.
