SLR Food Distribution Inc. is pulling Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon from shelves in 14 states after tests found high levels of lead. The company announced the voluntary recall on October 30, 2026, just before the holiday cooking season begins.

The affected product sits in clear plastic containers that hold 110 grams of spice. Each jar features a black screw-top cap and carries a best-before date of April 25, 2027. Shoppers can identify the specific batch by looking for UPC number 0688474302754 printed on the back label.

Retail and grocery stores in Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin carried the cinnamon. Sales of this specific product took place between September 8, 2025, and June 28, 2026.

The recall notice explains that lead can affect nearly every body system. The severity of the impact depends on the dose, how long a person was exposed, and their age and weight. Short-term exposure to low levels often produces no immediate symptoms, and no illnesses have been reported yet.

Consumers should stop eating the spice and either throw it away or bring it back to the store where they bought it. Sellers are offering full refunds for the recalled jars.
