OnePlus is delivering stable Android 17 software to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 in India, a release that occurs roughly a week earlier than the company originally planned. This rollout marks a structural change in the brand's software strategy, as these two devices are the first to abandon the OxygenOS interface in favor of ColorOS.

OxygenOS served as OnePlus's custom Android layer for years. It began as a near-stock experience with limited additions but evolved into a global variant of Oppo's ColorOS. The transition was announced when the company scaled back its international operations, signaling that existing devices would eventually migrate to the new platform. The software had been available in beta for some time, but the stable release now makes the update available to all users.

OnePlus set the initial launch date for October 29, 2026. The company moved the start date forward, beginning the distribution on October 23. The update is currently rolling out to the OnePlus 15 smartphone and the OnePlus Pad 4 tablet. These devices represent the first wave of the ColorOS 17 update.

In a statement, OnePlus described the software as a "new wave of smarter experiences" designed to reduce friction for users. The company framed the update around the concept of "Flow with AI, Flow Everywhere." The goal is to help users turn ideas into finished work and move between devices with less effort.

The next phase of the rollout is scheduled for October 30, 2026. This second wave will include the OnePlus 13. OnePlus has confirmed that other models, including previous generation flagships and various Nord devices, will receive the update in subsequent waves. The company expects the software to reach other regions in the coming days, though specific dates for those markets have not been confirmed.

This software shift follows a period of operational changes for the brand. Reports indicate that the OnePlus 15 and other models sold out in the United States after the company reduced its global presence. The company has also introduced the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery.
