The sixth entry in the long-running role-playing series has a name: Sentinel. Bethesda Game Studios unveiled the title and its accompanying logo in a video message on Tuesday. The announcement coincided with the studio's 40th anniversary.
Longtime franchise director Todd Howard presented the reveal. The new game serves as the direct sequel to Skyrim, which launched in 2011. That previous title remains the most played game in the series' history.
Sentinel refers to a city located in the Hammerfell province. This region sits west of Cyrodiil, the setting for Oblivion in 2006. It also lies southwest of Skyrim on the continent of Tamriel.
Development on The Elder Scrolls 6 began after the title was first announced in 2018. The project entered active production in 2023 following the release of Starfield. Howard previously estimated in 2021 that a launch date might fall 15 to 17 years after Skyrim. That timeline suggests players may still wait several years.
Rockstar Games is preparing for the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. Digital pre-loading begins on November 10. PlayStation 5 users can start the download at midnight local time. Xbox Series X and S users must wait for midnight GMT.
The pre-load file requires up to 212 GB of storage space, depending on the device. Physical code-in-box versions become available at retailers on November 12. Rockstar will also offer a printable cover art poster and map of Leonida as a free digital download on November 29.
The Borderlands franchise has surpassed 100 million units sold. Borderlands 4 released in September 2025. Gearbox has since added two story packs, five bounty packs, and two vault hunters. A new community event called The Hunt starts on November 6. 2K Foundations and Gearbox will match donations up to the previous record of $118,995.80.
