City Bodies Weigh AI Rules, Ethics Probe, and Street Parking
Upcoming agendas include a first session on an AI strategy, a preliminary ethics review of a councilmember, and a dispute over speed humps.

The Artificial Intelligence Strategy and Policy Ad Hoc Committee will convene for its first meeting on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m. The committee will discuss monthly public hearings scheduled to run through November 2027. These sessions will examine how AI impacts city services, employment, utility capacity, land use, and resident privacy. The process aims to produce a proposed citywide AI strategy for City Council consideration.
On the same day, the Board of Ethics meets at 6 p.m. to conduct a preliminary review of a complaint against Councilmember Philip Falcone. The board will also address proposals to write the Board of Ethics into the City Charter. That constitutional change would require a vote by residents. Additionally, the body plans to set rules governing its collaboration with the City Inspector General on future ethics investigations.
The Transportation Board holds its session on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 5:30 p.m. Item 5 on the agenda involves a five-minute parking zone on Bogart Avenue. This provision would allow mail carriers to stop at a new 23-unit supportive housing complex. Item 6 addresses a resident appeal for six speed humps on Muirfield Road. City staff recommend denying the request because the street does not meet current speed and traffic volume requirements.
These three meetings form the core of this week's public agenda for the city.
