President Donald Trump labeled the upcoming midterms the most important elections of his life. He made the declaration while addressing a crowd in Washington on Monday.
The speech took place at the reflecting pool of the Abraham Lincoln Memorial. Trump spent a large portion of the address detailing renovation projects he has launched in the capital and at the White House.
"As you know, this is the last day before the midterms, which I believe are the most important of our lives," he said. He added that the Democratic Party has selected the most radical and dangerous candidates in U.S. history.
The president specifically accused Democratic nominees of being jihadists and members of the Muslim Brotherhood. This claim has been repeated throughout the campaign against Abdul El-Sayed. El-Sayed is the Democratic candidate for Senate in Michigan. If elected, he would become the first Muslim senator in the country.
This final appearance followed a rapid tour across the nation. Trump held 25 rallies in multiple states during this trip. He focused on Republican strongholds that polls indicate are moving toward Democrats. These locations include Texas, Iowa, and Kansas.
Decision Desk HQ, a prediction model, estimates Democrats have an 84 percent chance of winning the House of Representatives. That figure is five points higher than the estimate from one week ago. The firm also assigns a 65 percent probability of Democrats reclaiming the Senate majority, an increase of eight percentage points over the same period.
Voters will select 35 seats in the Senate and all 435 seats in the House on Tuesday. They will also choose more than 30 state governors and various local officials.
