Fairfield police are searching for a suspect following a targeted shooting inside a Spirit Halloween store at the Solano Town Center that killed one person and wounded six others.
Firefighters responded to the costume shop at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday, where a single suspect opened fire. The victim was identified as Constance Hages, 31. Her family informed authorities that she was pregnant at the time of the shooting.
Three men, aged 16, 19, and 32, are in critical condition. A 23-year-old man is also in critical but stable condition. Two additional men, ages 19 and 43, were treated for gunshot wounds and released from the hospital.
Officials stated the incident stemmed from a targeted event involving one individual. They are reviewing video footage and other evidence to identify the person responsible for the attack. No arrests have been made as of Saturday.
The Solano Town Center, which houses 130 businesses, remained open on Saturday but canceled its scheduled trick-or-treating event. The mall noted the decision was made in light of the previous night's violence.
The FBI's Sacramento office is assisting local law enforcement in the investigation. Fairfield has a population of roughly 120,000 and is located 37 miles southwest of Sacramento.
