Gold House has established a new funding mechanism for emerging filmmakers from the South Asian diaspora.
The group announced the Gold Stack Shorts Fund during its annual Diwali gathering at The Majestic Downtown in Los Angeles. This partnership with South Stack Studios will finance proof-of-concept shorts and micro-series based on South Asian narratives. The initiative aims to provide financial backing for early-stage creative projects that may otherwise lack institutional support.
Filmmakers can submit their proposals through November 30. Gold House will announce the selected projects on January 10. This timeline places the decision before the Sundance Film Festival, potentially allowing winners to premiere their work at the industry's major winter showcase. The fund serves as a direct bridge between independent creators and the broader film industry.
The event featured prominent figures from the entertainment sector. Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, who star in the upcoming film "Ramayana: Rise of a Legend," attended the function. The movie is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 5. Gold House described the film as the largest production to emerge from India. The evening included a DJ set and dance floor themed around the film's release.
Bing Chen, executive chair and CEO of Gold House, framed the event as a celebration of community and cultural identity. He stated that Diwali represents light and connection, values that the organization seeks to honor. Chen emphasized that the gathering recognizes the long-term effort required for success. He noted that overnight achievements often result from decades of work by creators and founders.
The organization also showcased new design collaborations at the venue. Indian luxury designer Anita Dongre presented a hand-painted carrom board created with Gold House. This piece reimagines the traditional South Asian tabletop game as a contemporary design object. Guests also viewed the Cuyana x Gold House Marigold Charm, a limited-edition item released earlier in October. The event included regional catering from Rasoi and music from DJ MissNinja and KVS Tabla.
Gold House recently published a Diwali Cultural Guide. The organization states it works to back and celebrate the Asian Pacific community. The new shorts fund extends this mission into the development of new cinematic content.
