The National Football League announced on Monday that Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show. The performance is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Jay-Z and his entertainment company, Roc Nation, hold the production contract for the event. The firm has managed the halftime segment since 2019. As the lead producer, Jay-Z holds final authority over the musical lineup. He has selected himself as the primary performer.
The NFL has not yet identified the two teams that will compete in the championship game. Those clubs will be determined on the final day of January 2027. The halftime show will serve as the intermission for that contest.
Producers have not yet confirmed any special guests. However, industry observers and fans have identified four artists with strong historical ties to Jay-Z who could appear on stage. These candidates share professional collaborations or personal relationships with the rapper.
Beyoncé is widely considered the leading candidate for a guest slot. She and Jay-Z have been married since 2018 and share three children. Their musical partnership dates back to 2003 with the single "Crazy in Love." Other joint tracks include "Drunk in Love" and "Lift Off." Beyoncé performed at the 2016 Super Bowl halftime show alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars. She also sang the national anthem at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2001 and headlined a halftime show at the Houston Texans game on Christmas Day 2024.
Rihanna is another prominent name in the discussion. Jay-Z, then serving as chief executive of Def Jam Records, discovered her in 2005. She later moved her recording contract to Roc Nation in 2010. The two artists have recorded songs together, including "Umbrella" and "Run This Town." Rihanna made a surprise stage appearance with Jay-Z at Yankee Stadium earlier this year. She headlined the Super Bowl LVI halftime show in 2023.
Blu Ivy Carter, the oldest daughter of Jay-Z and Beyoncé, is also on the list of potential performers. She danced during Beyoncé’s 2024 Christmas Day halftime show in Houston. She also appeared as a dancer during the Cowboy Carter tour. Carter frequently attends NFL games with her father and has developed a dedicated fan following at live events.
Eminem is the fourth artist frequently mentioned in connection with the show. He joined Jay-Z on stage during the rapper's current tour. The two collaborated on the track "Renegade" for the album The Blueprint. Eminem appeared as a special guest at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show.
The final decision on the guest list remains with Roc Nation. No formal announcement regarding additional performers has been made as of Monday.
