Two Teens Smashed Halloween Decorations in North Phoenix

Security cameras in a north Phoenix neighborhood recorded two teenagers destroying property at multiple residences during the early hours of Sunday.

The incidents occurred near 40th Street and Thunderbird. At 1 a.m., a silver SUV stopped in front of a home belonging to a resident known as Suzie. Two figures who appear to be teenagers exited the vehicle and ran toward the yard. They tackled, kicked, and threw her Halloween decorations. The event lasted several minutes and was captured on her camera system. Thirty minutes later, a similar incident occurred at a home five minutes north of Suzie, belonging to a resident known as Keri. The teens kicked her front door before leaving the scene. Police have not yet released the age of the suspects but are treating the damage as a coordinated event.

Suzie stated she wants the behavior to stop because it is happening too frequently in their area. She expressed concern that someone could get hurt if the pattern continues. Keri said she felt a sense of relief after seeing Suzie’s video on the neighborhood app Nextdoor, as it confirmed her experience was not an isolated incident. Keri described feeling violated by the intrusion and questioned why children were out at 1 a.m. destroying property. Both residents filed police reports with the Phoenix Police Department.

The current events follow a similar incident last month in the same general area. A 14-year-old was accused of causing $10,000 in damage while participating in a TikTok challenge known as the door kick challenge. That prior event heightened neighbor anxiety regarding property safety after dark. Keri noted that the recent string of damages makes residents feel unsafe in their own homes. The Phoenix Police Department is currently investigating the two Sunday incidents. Officers are asking anyone with information to come forward to help identify the suspects in the silver SUV.
