The Winnipeg Jets ended a nine-game losing streak on Tuesday night by defeating the Montreal Canadiens 5-4 in overtime.

Montreal built a four-goal lead in the early third period. Cole Caufield scored the fourth goal for the visitors just 46 seconds into the frame. That goal gave Montreal a 4-0 advantage with under four minutes of regulation time remaining.

Winnipeg responded with a rapid sequence of four goals in 2 minutes and 8 seconds. Tyrel Bauer and Morgan Barron scored the first two to break Montreal goalie Jacob Fowler's shutout bid. Kyle Connor tied the game on a power-play shot with 32 seconds left in regulation. Connor scored his second goal of the game in the final minute.

The rally began at 57:21 in the third period. This marks the latest start for a four-goal comeback in NHL history. It surpasses the Los Angeles Kings, who began a similar effort at 52:46 on November 10, 2007. The Jets also set a franchise record for scoring four goals in the shortest time, beating their previous mark of 2 minutes and 16 seconds set in 1984.

Stuart Skinner made 18 saves for Winnipeg. Mark Scheifele and Dylan DeMelo recorded two assists each. For Montreal, Owen Beck and Josh Anderson scored. Jacob Fowler stopped 42 shots. Arber Xhekaj and Florian Xhekaj became the first brothers to record points on the same Canadiens goal since 2009.

Nick Suzuki missed his sixth straight game with a hand injury. He practiced without limitation on Monday and Tuesday morning. Winnipeg reunited its top line of Scheifele, Connor, and Gabriel Vilardi in an attempt to generate offense against a strong defensive effort by the Canadiens.
