The Los Angeles Kings defeated the New York Rangers 6-3 on Monday night at Madison Square Garden. This win ended New York's six-game home winning streak. It also marked the first time a visiting team has won at the venue this season.

Drew Doughty scored a goal and recorded two assists for Los Angeles. Artemi Panarin added a power-play goal and an assist. Taylor Ward opened the scoring 1:15 into the game on the Kings' first shot. Brandt Clarke extended the lead to 2-0 at 4:52 of the first period by tipping in a rebound off Joel Armia's slap shot.

New York pulled goaltender James Reimer after the first period. Reimer allowed three goals on eight shots. He had played just one previous game this fall, a 35-save shutout in the American Hockey League, before signing an NHL contract for the rest of the season. Dylan Garand replaced Reimer and stopped 15 of 17 shots.

The Kings jumped on the Rangers early in the contest. Doughty scored his first goal in 25 regular-season games. It was his first three-point game since Feb. 22, 2025. "Yeah, that was nice," Doughty told NHL.com. "I haven't had a night like that in a minute."

Panarin scored a power-play goal 90 seconds into the second period. Mikey Anderson also scored in the second period. Alex Laferriere contributed two assists as 12 players recorded a point for Los Angeles. Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves to pick up his third win of the season. All 18 of the Kings' skaters were on the ice for at least one of the team's goals.

New York cut the deficit to 5-2 when Adam Fox scored on the power play with 6:55 remaining in the second period. J.T. Miller put the Rangers on the board earlier when a Tye Kartye slap shot deflected off his skate. Kartye got New York within two at 16:08 of the third period. Joel Edmundson scored into an empty net for his first goal of the season to seal the victory.

The Kings improved to 3-5-2 on the season. They have won three of their last four games, all on the road. The team went winless in its first six games of the season. Peter Laviolette, the Kings coach, said the team played fast and made good decisions. "Guys are happy with (the road trip) so far," Mikey Anderson told NHL.com. "And we can make it a great trip tomorrow."

The Kings wrap up their five-game trip on Tuesday night in Chicago. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT. The Rangers fell to 1-4-1 in their past six games. They have allowed 18 goals during a three-game skid.
